For 19 years, close to 40 species of birds have returned to attend the annual Tofino Shorebird Festival (birdwatchers are also welcome to attend)

April 4, 2016, Tofino, BC – Joining thousands of migrating and local shorebirds along the west coast of British Columbia for the 19th annual Tofino Shorebird Festival, members of the Raincoast Education Society have partnered with Long Beach Lodge Resort and other tourism providers to present three days of activities for everyone from bird-watching novices to expert ‘twitchers.’

Fourteen events are scheduled over the three-day festival, including land and sea-based bird-watching expeditions, lectures, and introductory and intermediate bird-watching seminars – Birding 101: Get Your Beak Wet and Birding 201: Get Your Feet Wet. Long Beach Lodge Resort is the host venue for the festival’s Bird Photography Workshop with nature photographer Jess Findlay on Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m and Shorebirds in Pacific Rim with Parks Canada’s Resource Management Officer Sarah Tyne on Sunday May 1 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The full schedule of events is available through the Raincoast Conservation Society: http://raincoasteducation.org/events/tofino-shorebird-festival. "Another Great Stay!"

We've been taking winter breaks in Tofino/Ucluelet for almost 20 years and enjoy the lack of crowds and ability to beach walk & experience some awesome winter storms. Long Beach Lodge makes a great base as we take our 2 labs and book one of the a dog friendly rooms on the ground floor that have walk out to the beach and a great view. This year was no exception with no rain while we were there and 2 days of storm force winds that made for great breaking surf. The room was great as always, staff all excellent and we ate 2 nights in the restaurant enjoying great meals and good beer both nights. An added plus was a new bank of 8 Level2 EV chargers (CCS) by the entrance with complimentary charging for guests, so keeping the car charged for drives to hiking locations and in prep for out return home was totally painless. This resort is absolutely amazing! The staff are all so personable and kind, they go above and beyond to make sure your stay at the lodge is the best possible. The restaurant in the great room is magnificent, the views, the delicious delicacy of their culinary art, the atmosphere and service can’t be matched. If you are looking for the perfect island getaway, this is the place! Look no further. "Always Great to Return"

Never tire of the spectacular waterfront views. Food in The Great room for dinner was excellent. Still find the towels in the room to be less that what I'd expect at a luxury resort. Not a fan of the toiletries in the room. Far too woodsy and herbal for our liking...somewhat overpowering. Getting close to the time when the rooms are ready for another refresh..carpet showing signs of wear, a fresh repaint wouldn't hurt, etc. Bathroom could use another hook or two to hang towels, etc. Looking forward to checking out the new spa facilities on our next visit.
