Long Beach Lodge Resort named one of the best hotel experiences in Canada

Unique surf experience on Vancouver Island on the edge of the Pacific Ocean is unlike anything else in Canada.

We know we have something special on Vancouver Island, in Tofino, Ucluelet and the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.

Now, thanks to Air Canada’s enRoute Magazine, even more people will learn about our corner of paradise.
enRoute Magazine has named Long Beach Lodge Resort among the “Best 10 Hotels to Experience Canada” in its May 2015 edition. The annual feature examines and recognizes “hotels that offer thoroughly Canadian stays, from Toronto to Vancouver and beyond,” and author Andrew Braithwaite, who stayed at the Resort in June 2014, offers a glimpse:

“Chance, my surf coach, was born in New Brunswick and spent five years in the Navy before coming to Tofino on a road trip. "I never left," he says as we carry our surfboards past rainforest and down to the beach at Cox Bay. A quick scan of the scenery – long stretches of sand framed by towering trees – and I can see why he stayed. The sandy beach is free of rocks and undertow, making it one of the best places in the world to learn to surf. (Long Beach Lodge Resort's Surf Club is exclusive to hotel guests, and the Discover Surfing package includes two private lessons and access to the club's Riptide Centre: sauna, hot tub and cappuccino bar.) Chance draws diagrams in the sand and I practice popping up to my feet on the board. Then it's time to hit the water?– my first attempt at surfing – and while I can catch a wave, standing remains a challenge. On my last wave of the day, I get lucky, catching Chance's eye as I get to my feet – shrugging my shoulders in a "How'd I do that?" gesture.”

The sandy beach is free of rocks and undertow, making it one of the best places in the world to learn to surf.

So, if you want to experience Tofino surfing at its finest, the Surf Club Adventure Centre will be happy to welcome you!
