With November rolling in, storm season is really in full swing! The swells are growing taller by the day, sometimes so big it feels like they might wash the Lodge away (don’t worry, they never do!).
With Halloween just around the corner, we’re also getting ready for one of our favorite Lodge traditions: the Pumpkin Pipeline at Cox Bay. Every year, the staff dress up in costumes and paddle out to catch waves while a jury scores their outfits and performance. If you’re staying with us at the end of October, be sure to watch this entertaining spectacle from the warmth of the Great Room, and keep an eye out for the pumpkins carved by our team, displayed at the Lodge entrance.
There’s more exciting news from our community. Tofino has officially become the first town in Canada to ban single-use plastic water bottles – another important step toward keeping our beautiful coastline pristine. Sustainability has always been close to our hearts here at the Lodge, from weekly beach clean-ups led by our Maintenance team, to the countless ways we incorporate eco-friendly practices into our daily operations.
Behind the scenes, we’re finishing the final phase of our three-year plan to refresh and renovate our rooms and cottages. This winter, we’ll complete the last eight cottages as part of our ongoing commitment to keeping the resort looking “opening day fresh”, no matter the season.
We’re looking forward to welcoming guests this November and through the holiday season. It’s a wonderful time to visit Tofino with dramatic skies, cozy fires, and that calm that only winter coast can bring.
Best wishes,
Tim Hackett
