Community Events & Festivals this Fall

As Tofino winds down in the fall, the events seem to ramp up. September and October are brimming with activities, making these months a wonderful time to visit. Whether you join in on the action or spectate from the beach, here are a few standout annual events to be enjoyed by all!

September 1 - 7, 2018: Clayoquot Salmon Festival

Salmon play an integral role for coastal livelihoods, cultures, and ecosystems in Clayoquot Sound. And they lead incredible lives, starting in fresh water then migrating to the ocean. Salmon stay at sea for years before their homing instincts guide them back, to the fresh water systems they were conceived in, to reproduce. Celebrating this magnificent species is what inspires Friends of Clayoquot Sound to organize the annual Clayoquot Salmon Festival!

September 8 - 9, 2018: Surf’s up for Autism

Surf’s Up For Autism was established in 2012, and today our unique and special event continues to grow every year. One weekend a year in September, families take time out of their hectic lives dealing with Autism, and can just be a family. It’s a surf weekend in Tofino where people can leave behind their daily grind, and try to forget about the costs and stresses of Autism that burden their families. This event empowers the parents and includes the siblings that often feel left behind.

September 6 - 9, 2018: Carving on the Edge Festival

The Carving on the Edge Festival is an annual gathering that celebrates traditional and contemporary carving arts. This year’s theme, Totems & Tributaries, will explore carving as a visual language. Totem Poles stand tall, telling stories of the land and its peoples. Tributaries connect our coastal communities to those upstream, uniting us along ancient salmon migration routes. The festival offers something for everyone – from lovers of arts & culture to carvers of all skill levels.

September 28 - 30, 2018: Queen of the Peak - Women’s Surf Championships

The Queen of the Peak - Women's Surf Championships was created in 2009 by Surf Sister and Shelter Restaurant to celebrate and showcase the amazing surf talent here on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The contest itself spans over 3 days in Tofino Canada and offers amenities to competitors such as a complimentary welcome dinner, free childcare, free beachside massages and more. In 2017 more than 100 women and children competed for cash and prizes in Longboard, Shortboard and Princess of the Peak divisions. This community event has grown into a week long festival with fun accompanying events such as Zumba, Yoga, movie premiers, and dance parties. We hope you can join us as and celebrate the Queen's of the Peak! Dates for 2018 are set for September 28-Septeber 30th, 2018.

"Exceptional Dining Experience"
2024-02-10
Two evenings ago I showed up at the Long Beach Lodge Great Room for dinner. Even though I didn’t have a reservation and was a single diner I was immediately seated at a table by the window with the most magnificent view of the ocean and setting sun. I had the most delicious meal - the best I’ve eaten in a long time . To start I had a non alcoholic spiced ginger drink which was heavenly, then a romaine salad drizzled with an exquisite dressing and a snowfall of Parmesan. For the main event I was presented with a pound of Saltspring Island mussels in a tantalizing broth with copious amounts of pita for dipping. For dessert I had a decaf cappuccino which came extra hot exactly as I ordered. I was so impressed with the food, service and ambience . Thank you Reema for an exceptional dining experience.

LBLR has been a great get-away spot for me and hubby. The staff in the resort are friendly and professional. Cleaning staff do a great job and we feel pampered with all their attention to cleanliness. I always look forward to my classic eggs Benny in the morning. Overall, LBLR deserves a 10!

Was absolutely blown away by this property in every way. Cottages were well appointed and a few minute walk to the beach. Loved having private hot tubs. Restaurant was incredible. Had a fantastic dinner and breakfast there each morning. Wonderful service, generous portions. Great kids menu with crayons provided. Ordered the seafood boil to our cottage with another family. One of the most epic meals of all time. Beach is next level. Gorgeous. This is the perfect destination for families. Thank you for an incredible stay!
