Ferry service runs from Horseshoe Bay in North Vancouver to Nanaimo’s Departure Bay as well as from Tsawwassen, south of the airport, to Victoria’s Swartz Bay and Nanaimo’s Duke Point terminals.
Driving Directions from Victoria
Take Highway 1 North from Victoria. Take the Highway 19 North exit to Campbell River. Follow Hwy 19 for approximately 50 km and take Exit 60 for Highway 4 West and follow signs to Port Alberni. In Port Alberni, turn right at the T-Intersection (River Road) and continue along Highway 4 for 87 km, until you hit another T-Intersection. Turn right (north) towards Tofino, and travel through Pacific Rim National Park. Watch for our sign on the left after you exit the Park. The drive will take approximately 4.5 hours.
The highway from Qualicum Beach to the West Coast of Vancouver Island will take you through magnificent scenery including spectacular old-growth forests and a series of beautiful lakes. Cathedral Grove is well worth a stop and a visit along the way.
Driving Directions from Nanaimo
Take Highway 19 North from Nanaimo. Turn west, onto Highway 4 at the Qualicum Beach/Port Alberni exit (exit 60) and follow signs to Port Alberni. In Port Alberni, turn right at the T-Intersection (River Road) and continue along Highway 4 for 87 km, until you hit another T-Intersection. Turn right (north) towards Tofino, and travel through Pacific Rim National Park. Watch for our sign on the left after you exit the Park. The drive will take approximately 3 hours.
