Former chef returns to Long Beach Lodge Resort as Food and Beverage Director

Tofino, B.C., April 6, 2009 - Former Long Beach Lodge Resort Executive Chef Rob Wheaton has recently returned to the resort as Director of food and beverage. Wheaton moves to the management side of the hospitality industry following a decade-long career as an executive chef at restaurants, including Shelter and Long Beach Lodge in Tofino, as well as at the Water Street Cafe and The Beach House at Dundarave Pier in Vancouver.

For Wheaton, a move into management is a good fit for his skills and passion and a natural progression for his career.

“I’m thrilled to be able to step outside of the kitchen and oversee all aspects of the bar and dining room at Long Beach Lodge Resort. It’s a great opportunity to take a real leadership role and truly shape the dining experience,” says Wheaton. “It’s creative, it’s strategic and it enables me to think about what’s best for the resort, its guests and diners. I’m really excited about what we can do as a team here,” he says.

Famous for its iconic Great Room, where guests are welcome to relax, and enjoy the incredible views and watching the waves of one of the best surfing beaches in the area, Long Beach Lodge was recently selected as one of the top three resorts in Canada by Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards. Long Beach Lodge Resort is set right on the ocean on Cox Bay, Tofino, and provides beautifully appointed accommodation in a private, wild Pacific West Coast setting. The resort offers 40 lodge rooms, 20 two-bedroom cottages and a full service dining room, as well as meeting space and instant beach access.
