Long Beach Lodge Resort introduces the Surf Essentials for beginners and surfers searching for a refresh
Feb. 16, 2016, Tofino, BC – Tofino, BC is a mecca for accomplished surfers, but for those who might require the motivation to get their feet wet and try out surfing, Long Beach Lodge Resort is offering guests the chance to book a lesson with their family or friends and learn the basics between breakfast and lunch.
The Surf Essentials half-day program is available every Saturday. Each program is open to up to 10 people daily, based on an instructor to student ratio of 1:5. The Surf Essentials program is $260 Cdn per person (ages 10 and up). Children under 10 are $180.50 Cdn, but must be accompanied by an adult. Wetsuits and boards are provided.
This immersive experience begins at 8 a.m. with breakfast in the on-site Surf Club prior to the lesson, where guests have the chance to meet their instructor and other participants and share their level of experience. Following breakfast, guests will slip into their wetsuits, booties, hoodies and gloves in the comfort of a heated indoor change room before grabbing their boards and heading down to the beach in-front of the resort on Cox Bay.
The Surf Essentials program is the vision of Chance McCullough, Surf Club Manager and head instructor for Long Beach Lodge Resort. The surf team will talk about the surfing environment, waves, wind, tide and currents then spend 2.5 hours on the beach and in the water, providing personal instruction.
Following the lesson, everyone will head back to the Surf Club for a hot shower and de-brief over lunch in the Great Room. Wrapping up at 1 pm, participants can return to the Surf Centre hot pool or sauna for a bit of well-deserved pampering.
Before guests depart from Long Beach Lodge Resort, a photo package and keepsake sweater will be available for pick up at the Surf Club.

The Surf Essentials experience is available for guests of Long Beach Lodge Resort and is designed for all ages and first time surfers and novice levels. It must be booked in advance as space is limited to ten participants per camp. A minimum of two participants must be confirmed for the camp to proceed on any given day.
