Food & Beverage Supervisor

Job Purpose

As a Food & Beverage Supervisor with Long Beach Lodge Resort, you will lead the shift and oversee the guest experience in cooperation with the Senior F&B Supervisor. Your passion and knowledge of our outstanding F&B offerings and general resort knowledge will inspire colleagues, ensuring that our F&B outlets including the Great Room, SandBar Bistro and catering is the preferred dining establishment and workplace. As a supervisor, you will ensure product and service is maintained during the breakfast, lunch, après surf, and dinner periods.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the highest level of service by exceeding guest expectations to build loyalty
  • Supervise daily department operation, including start of shift briefings, section assignments, smooth shift changes, bill discrepancies and end of shift cash remittances
  • Oversee food service, and act as an expeditor, when necessary, to ensure the timely movement of completed food orders from kitchen to guest table
  • Provide ongoing feedback to F&B staff to help them improve service and develop their skills
  • Assist in preparing and issuing performance documentation including letters of expectations and letters of recognition
  • Serve as a link between the leadership team and employees by communicating departmental goals, handling questions, and helping resolve work-related problems
  • Assist in scheduling of F&B staff, while maintaining labour costs
  • Assist in payroll, reconciling of gratuities, ensuring accuracy, adjustments and distributions as required
  • Committing to guest satisfaction through consistent follow up on all guest issues; delivering outstanding guest service recovery
  • Strong and effective communication with all other departments; partnering to ensure property-wide service standards for our guests
  • Ensure colleagues have full knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods being served in the Great Room, Sandbar Bistro and Catering
  • Ensure that all employees are practicing health and safe work practices, are aware of our green commitments and emergency procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • A secondary school diploma is required
  • Post-secondary education in Hotel/Restaurant Management is preferred
  • 2-3 years leadership experience in F&B service, preferably in a hotel environment
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Superior interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fine food wines and service
  • Computer literacy is imperative including Microsoft Office and Point of Sale System, preferably Micros
  • FOODSAFE certification required
  • Serving It Right certification required

Working conditions

Flexible, must be willing to work a variety of hours, including days, nights as well as weekends and holidays based on the business needs


Physical requirements

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift for up to 8 hours
  • Able to lift and carry objects, up to 30 lbs
  • Kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps

Reporting

This position reports to the Executive Chef and Director of Food & Beverage
